The event consists of 2 walking routes, one slightly shorter and one more strenuous, the event aims to raise awareness for charities and allows Scots to come together in the name of fundraising in Scotland’s beautiful national dress.

Other locations that are part of the kilt walk programme are Glasgow, Edinburgh & Aberdeen. The varying locations organise a kilt walk at varying times of the year, ensuring all year-round fund-raising opportunities. The event is open to anyone and everyone with a low-cost entry fee, people can also donate to the event directly even if they don’t wish to take part.

The General consensus is the kilt walk can be walked in a kilt with most dates picked in the summer months for higher chances of a sunny day, wearing a kilt is not mandatory but is highly encouraged and a great opportunity for people to pull their kilts out from their wardrobes.

The event is taking place on the 17th of august 2025 for the Dundee kilt walk, the walk features 2 routes of varying length. You can read more about the routes here.

• The wee wander, ideal for those looking for a day out and a smaller walk. Around 4 miles in length, approximately takes 2 hours to complete. This route starts in Dundee city centre and finishes at the Broughty Castle Museum.

• The Mighty stride is the main walk, approximately 20 miles starting from St Andrews and finishing in Dundee. This route is expected to take 7 hours to complete and is more strenuous.

It is a low £13 – £20 entry fee, all of which goes to charity along with all funds from the project, this is one of Scotland’s lowest cost & highest charity raising events. All proceeds last year over 7 million pounds were raised and contributed to over 1000+ charities, the kilt walk is a highly anticipated event every year and contribute greatly to charity projects and organisations.

Registration will close once the event has reached capacity or no later than the Friday before the event. All event deadlines are subject to change, so we advise Kilt walkers to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

When registering there is the option to register solo or as a team, there is also opportunities to add you chosen charity even if it isn’t on the extensive list already there. Changes to bookings can be made easily through the organisations contact team.
