Scott Clan history

In the history of Scotland, few names have a longer lineage than Scott, whose ancestors trace back to the Boernician tribe. The initial family to bear the name Scott resided in Roxburgh, which is now part of the Borders region in Scotland. The surname Scott has a local origin, signifying someone who originated from Scotland, like a Scot. The spelling with a double ‘t’ in Scott has become standard. Some sources suggest that the name was originally for an individual in England who later moved to Scotland. Before the use of surnames, the name might have been used for a Gaelic speaker within Scotland, who migrated with the Gaelic Dalriadans from Ireland around 500 AD.

The scott Family motto is “Amo” which translates to “I love”
