Anderson clan history
The Anderson surname was initially discovered in the Great Glen and Strathspey regions, where the Anderson family can trace their lineage back to Mac Ghille Andreis, who served as a servant to St. Andrew, the Patron Saint of Scotland. They are considered a sept of Clan Chattan and have been affiliated with this Confederation of Clans since the 15th century.
Despite their Scottish roots, it is worth noting that some members of the Anderson family migrated south to England during earlier periods of their history. For instance, there is a manor located in the parish of Eyworth in Bedfordshire that deserves mention. “The manor was originally owned by the Leybourns and later passed through the hands of the Charlton and Francis families. During the reign of Elizabeth, Eyworth became the property and residence of Sir Edmund Anderson, the lord chief justice of the common pleas and one of the judges who presided over the trial of Mary, Queen of Scots. The church in Eyworth contains several noteworthy monuments dedicated to the Andersons and other prominent individuals.”

Ewans tip for styling
Any Anderson tartan is good as it is one of the most unique designs
There are many ways to style the Anderson tartan however our recommendation would be one of our black jackets such as a prince Charlie or a charcoal tweed jacket
The weathered Anderson tartan paired with fisherman’s blue tweed jacket is a winner in our eyes
We also recommend that you match the colour of your flashes to the colour of your tie wither that be a Anderson tartan tie or a plain colour such as fisherman’s blue
Famous Anderson
A famous Anderson you might know is James Anderson FRSE FSAScot was a renowned agriculturist and esteemed political economist. In 1785, he penned his notable work “Account of the Present State of The Hebrides and Western Coasts of Scotland”. Additionally, he contributed an entry titled ‘Monsoon’ for the inaugural edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica in 1773, which remarkably foresaw the discoveries that would later be made by Captain Cook upon his return.
